Have you ever been to an event and wondered how it happened? Or had an idea for the club but did not know how to start? Well we have positions for you.

Since the club has been running for a bit over 12 months now we will be holding an Annual General Meeting on 14th September 2010 at the Traralgon RSL (94 Kay Street). This is your opportunity to put your hand up and take on a role to help with the running of the club. The agenda for the meeting can be found here.

Different roles require different time commitment, however most roles are fairly small in size. If you want to know more then contact one of our current committee members or e-mail \n This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

All positions are declared vacant at the AGM, so do not be afraid to put your hand up because someone else did it and they might want it again. Most current committee members have multiple roles at the moment and would be more than happy to focus on a specific area of the club to keep us moving forward.

If you do wish to nominate for the committee, you will need to complete a Nomination Form (available here) and return to it:
Gippsland MTB Inc
PO Box 792
Traralgon, Vic, 3844

Also, if you cannot be there on the night but one of your mates is going you can still vote for people by completing a Proxy Appointment Form (available here) and sending it to the address above. This all sounds very formal and in fact it is probably the most formal part of the club at the moment. So please, just fill in the forms and we’ll get some new faces and ideas in the prime positions to keep the club growing.

The current roles that the club has are as follows:

A small group of keen riders turned out in perfect sunny conditions on Sunday 22nd August for the second annual Blores Hill Checkpoint race. It would be interesting to see which type of rider would win the day – the super fit fast guys or those with local knowledge and/or superior navigation skills.

Blores Hill 4 Hour Enduro – Race Report

By Tracey Whittaker

Sunday 25 July saw 65 riders of all abilities gather together on a beautiful sunny morning to compete in the four hour enduro at one of the districts favourite riding spots, Blores Hill.

With the sound of the car horn blaring through the bush, racing commenced at 10am through the car park and a hard right into the first section of single track.

For the committed riders up the front who got to see the first accident of the day within the space of 30 seconds from starting, the rider had a front wheel wash out on the rocky corner and crashed into a tree. Four metres of bandaging later and a sore knee, they pulled the pin and went to the pub for lunch.

For the rest of us, racing continued.

Two sisters, Leonie Picton (better know for her awesome skills on the down hill bike) raced against her older sister, Tracy Whittaker (who also races down hill) to see who was the better cross country rider of the two…to be continued.
